Finding Jesus in a Messed Up World. Jesus the God of John's Gospel - JS Gillespie

So often we fear that that God does not exist or at least God is not interested in us because of the mess of our world or because of the mess of our lives. The opposite is the case. It is in our pain, suffering and mess that God meets us and finds us! There is hope! It was in the disappointment of the woman at the well that the Samaritan woman of John chapter 4 found Jesus with the living water able to satisfy. It was at the pool of Bethesda that the man in his sickness found Jesus after 38 years of hopeless despair! It was in her sin condemned by mere religion that the woman of John chapter 8 found Jesus able to forgive and save. He is the only way, the only Saviour of sinners, the judge of all and the Saviour of those who come to Him by faith. Dr J Stewart Gillespie

Guilt! A heavy burden to carry! A lifetime is a long time to Carry it! Psalm 51 - JS Gillespie

Psalm 51 is not a sermon! Psalm 51 is a soul burdened and broken with guilt before God. Sin corrupts and destroys the soul, breaks our relationship with God and will ultimately destroy us now and forever. It is only the blood of Christ which is able to cleanse me of my guilt and defilement! I must be purged by His blood to be cleansed, like the leper once cleansed of his leprosy! Psalm 51 is a soul burdened by sin. Psalm 51 is also a soul who finds salvation in the work of Jesus Christ.

Zacchaeus - When Everything becomes Nothing and Joy Overflows - Luke 19 - Tom and JS Gillespie

The story of Zacchaeus in Luke chapter 19 is the story of a man who thought he had everything but actually had nothing! Zacchaeus found salvation and satisfaction in Jesus Christ as Jesus passed through Jericho. Such was the joy of his salvation that he gave away half of his goods. The Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Our Father which Art in Heaven - The Lord's Prayer

The Lord's prayer, taught and recited on many an occasion, but have we considered what it really means for our God to be Holy? For us to incur debts to our God or for His Kingdom just to be around the corner? Are we ready to meet Him? This prayer calls for sincerity and seriousness, prayer made to God and heard by God.

The Road to Heaven Paved with Good Intentions and Many Missed Opportunities! Matthew 26 to 27 - JS Gillespie

The road to heaven is paved with good intentions. In Matthew chapters 26 to 27 we perceive the many missed opportunities! Judas who wanted a little more than Jesus! The crowd who chose Barabbas and wanted less than Jesus! The disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane who were interested in Jesus but not that interested to stay awake for Jesus! Pontius Pilate who wanted no more to do with Jesus and Peter who denied Jesus. Even God forsook Jesus at Calvary as Jesus suffered for our sins. Have you found Jesus? The only place to find Him is at the cross.

Easter 2026 - When God gives you More than you ever Dared to Ask - JS Gillespie

The resurrection of Jesus Christ, the greatest event of human history, Mary Magdalene discovers an empty tomb in John chapter 20, triggering the explosion of evangelism and gospel preaching as the apostles move out with the message of the cross of Jesus, His saving work at Calvary and the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, able to save forever all who come to Him by faith because He ever lives.

The Problems you Face When you Come to Christ - Mark chp 9

It is only Jesus Christ who can save, everyone else is a disappointment! Jesus alone is sinless, supreme and the eternal Son of God. No wonder the father and the crowd discovered an amazing Jesus in Mark chapter 9. They not only wanted to know about Jesus, they desperately wanted to kne Jesus, they needed Him personally. Disciples and Christians would disappoint, arguments would distract only Jesus can save and satisfy! Having been to the mount of transfiguration the Lord now encounters this man with his demon possessed and epileptic son. Have you found Jesus amazing?

Hurting too Much to Believe? Does God Really Love Me? - Romans chp 5 vs 8 - J Stewart Gillespie

At times we can slip into unbelief. If there is a God then why is there so much hurt and hurting the in world? If God is real and if God is love why do I suffer? Why are there so many problems in the world if God is a God of love. Romans chapter 5 verse 8 takes us to the proof of the love of God, to the cross of Jesus Christ where God demonstrated and proved teh reality of His love towards us, a love we dare not miss.

The Day I met Jesus in the Storm - Mark chp 6 - JS Gillespie

It is often in the setting of the storm that we encounter Jesus. The gospel of Jesus Christ and the message of the bibe is so radically different from all that I have been taught and experienced it can be difficult to comprehend the message of the bible! It is when we meet Him in the storm that everything can radically change.

The Day I met Jesus Faith to Touch Faith to Trust - Mark Chapter 5 - J Stewart Gillespie

Mark chapter 5 contains the stories of three people who met Jesus; the man of the Gaderenes, demon possessed, a woman who had been bleeding for 12 years and a young girl, Jairus daughter who was sick and then died. Jesus was able to meet all in their extreme need, from the living dead, to the dieing and living and living who past into death. Now was their moment to reach out a hand and touch the edge of the garment of Jesus.
