Heroes come in various shapes and forms. Most don't wear superman suits. Timothy's preparation for service lay in an unassuming apprenticeship in the background, serving quietly when Paul did the preaching at Corinth, Ephesus and Philippi, Timothy was present but not prominent at the founding of all these churches. When something went wrong and Paul could not go, Paul had his man; quite, qualified and unassuming; Timothy had the care for and connections with these Christians just when he was needed for the task at hand.
