Lyrics

Persistent in his arrogant self righteousness, the lawyer of Luke chapter 10 is a million miles from the gates of heaven. He just doesn't know how far away he is! Perhaps just a few minor adjustments will do for God to ultimately endorse him as good, a worthy inheritor of eternal life. In reality he hasn't even begun on the journey to heaven. Christ illustrates his distance from not only the abode of God but from the heart and nature of God. Looking around at a broken humanity heading down, down, down from the heights of God's presence to the depravity of Jericho destroyed and then cursed, He looks for any who would have compassion. Few including the most overtly religious lack the true selfless 'agape' love of the Saviour, a love infused into a heart born again and born of God. The lawyer falls short, he has not started the journey, he has not yet come in repentent faith to Jesus for forgiveness and salvation.
